Rose Kryzak was a leader, an advocate and a voice for older New Yorkers.

She fought for consumers needing fair utility rates and older patients getting coverage for prescription drugs. All who knew her recognized that she was a force to be reckoned with. Small in stature, she had a large presence, including jumping up on a State Trooper’s desk in the Capitol to get Governor Mario Cuomo’s attention. StateWide – and Rose Kryzak – was the leading force behind the creation of the EPIC program so New York State elders could afford their prescription drugs.

Among her last wishes, Rose urged the leaders of StateWide to keep a strong legislative advocacy focus. The Board created the Rose Kryzak Legacy Fund to allow contributors to directly support StateWide’s advocacy work. Few grants and no government contracts allow for funds to be used on advocacy activities.

That’s why your contribution to the Kryzak Fund is so important to support the critical work to educate legislators to ensure that laws work for older residents.
